My 10th book I publish

Although I am writing poetry and creating photography since I was very young, and this will be the 10th book I will publish, I still consider myself a newbie and I was thinking… One was the debut book. One was an art photography book. The rest were collections of anthologies, a collaborative work between multiple authors. I had a photography catalog collaboration, and multiple ebooks, and workbooks.

But this is my first single-author self-published written in English, paperback poetry collection.

So, can I still consider Turning Black into Color a debut poetry book?

Well, it really feels like it. I feel I have only succeeded to scratch a little bit on the surface. Sometimes I am overwhelmed not by writing or creating the book, but by everything that goes into the process of publishing the book, the planning, paperwork, marketing, and all the different things you have to learn to do, that literally keeps you from your work.

The process of making a book is different for every book, and every project. Every time you improve and learn something new. It is important as a creative person, to be able to express your ideas and your vision. In a book we capture the life lessons and experiences that we want to pass on to others, that we strongly believe it will help others. Offering an easier path. Making yourself vulnerable as an author, so others won’t make the mistakes you’ve made.

Although sometimes it is believed that publishing a book is a selfish act, I think that if you don’t have an honest intention, driven by the most powerful belief that your work is needed, helpful, and can change someone’s life for the better, you are not going to overcome all the storm that comes with writing a book.
